Chicago Fire Select Jason Herrick With No. 45 Pick
With the 9th pick in the 3rd round (45 overall) of MLSSuperDraft, the Chicago Fire select Jason Herrick, F, from University of Maryland.
From his bio, we got a local guy from Elmhurst, IL: Before Maryland: Played primarily with his club team, Sockers FC Chicago ... helped the team to four Illinois State Cup titles, as well as the Region II semifinals from 2003-05 ... the Sockers were a Dallas Cup finalist in 2004 ... a member of the SYL Select Team and was invited to the adidas ESP camp in 2005 ... led his varsity high school team in goals as a freshman and was all-conference.

Honestly, pretty good value at this point in the draft.
I saw him up a lot higher in mock ups. Even though he isn’t speedy by any means, we definitely need attackers. I can only think our main striker threat will come via signing. The Fire brass just went on a huge scouting trip, and I don’t think we have anyone to fear up front right now. So I expect our threat to come from abroad. Let’s hope so at least.
