Nery Castillo's time with the Fire appears to be over
News just hitting that Castillo has been loaned out to Greek side Aris FC. It looks like the loan will take him through his loan contract with the Fire. Which leaves us even shorter at forward. I hope Frank plans on making some signings very soon...

just as well
We all knew this was coming. I’m really at a loss for opinions about the state of the club until frank announces some signings (and maybe not even then).
This feels like that scene in ferris bueller’s day off when ben stein is taking attendance – Bueller? Bueller? Anybody?

If all the players we drafted stick with the team
Which is a big ‘if’ but if they all stick with the team, we would only have 4 roster spots to fill. I expect at least one Designated Player to be signed before opening day but time will tell. We might just go all rebuilding but I don’t think the team’s ticket sales can afford to do that. Plus we have the cap space and a past dedication from Andrew Hauptman to spending on players.

Yeah but,
I read quite a few places that many felt Jalil was one of the only players to come out of the draft that was MLS ready. That includes players like Salgado, Nagbe, Kitchen, etc. So, even if all of our players do stick, I can’t see any way we can play some of them right away. They simply won’t be ready. Especially the supplemental players we picked up. I see some of them getting time in the reserve league, while others might make the bench, but there is no way in my opinion we can play everyone we drafted right out of the gate. If we have to do that and rely on them to fill the roster, we truly will be in a rebuilding year.
Don’t get me wrong, I love who we drafted, and hope they all turn out to be stars. I think our top 3 picks have a definite chance to make an impact quick;y, but we also have to temper ourselves and realize it may take some of them a year or two to really be ready. We must have some signings to give us a legit shot this year.
