Poor Baggio!
On Monday, he gets 4 wisdom teeth pulled. On Tuesday, he is out of a job. Not a good start to the week.
Given his play, I’m not too surprised, especially if he’s not GA anymore. He becomes an expensive sub who didn’t produce much. Too bad for him, I remember last offseason on the GA tour in Spain Hyndman had good things to say about him, but he didn’t live up to it this year. Makes you wonder why he was so often a go-to guy off the bench. I would guess he gets picked up, though. There are some decent-to-big names available on waivers. I’m looking forward to the re-entry draft.
GK situation
With the official list of re-entry eligible players out today, it looks like there are a couple of good backup GK possibilities available in Zach Thornton (not a great history, but had a good year two seasons ago), Joe Cannon, and Jay Nolly.
There are a number of other interesting names on the list, such as Bobby Convey, Arturo Alvarez, Andy Williams, and others, but I’m not sure if they’d really have a place with the Fire. Still, it’ll be an interesting re-entry draft.
Thornton is a great historical pick for the Fire. If he can get into shape, it would be very cool to see him retire as a member of the Chicago Fire.

Should've read my history first
Having only gotten into MLS in the past 4-5 years, I wasn’t aware that Thornton was a Fire original. I just knew he’d bounced around a bit after going to Europe, had had a couple good years with Chivas but fell behind Kennedy this year. Thanks for pointing this out to me.
