UPDATE 1 - 9:00 AM on December 5: This is now official according to the Chicago Fire. Chicago acquires Nolly for a first round selection in the 2013 Supplemental Draft John Thorrington and Joe Cannon re-sign with the Vancouver Whitecaps ********************************** This comes via Benjamin Massey over at 86 Forever in response to MLS releasing an updated list of players who will be available for the Re-Entry Draft that starts this Monday. "So where does that leave Jay Nolly? I don't think anybody was expecting him to come back, yet he's not on the list. If you want to go really deep into reading the tea leaves then Jay Nolly wife Alicia has recently started following the Chicago Fire on Twitter. A Fire public relations representative and a beat writer have started following Jay Nolly. For those of a certain mindset, that would suggest Nolly has been traded to Chicago and we're just waiting for the details to come out. Then again, maybe Cannon's been traded to Chicago and Nolly leaked the story? Maybe the Nolly family ran into a Chicago PR guy and a had a few beers? Who the heck knows? In the coming days, I'm sure we'll find out." The Fire front office people he refers to are Brendan Hannan and Jeff Crandall. Their back to back follow of Nolly is interesting and while it certainly could just be coincidence, Chicago needs two more goalkeepers to complete the roster. I honestly went to read about Thorrington not being available in the Re-Entry Draft anymore but came away more intrigued about Jay Nolly. The off-season is in full effect.
