If you have ever wanted to purchase a new Chicago Fire jersey with 'Fire' across the chest, now is your chance. This is not the Chicago Fire 2011 Home Authentic Soccer Jersey, that is still 'Image Coming Soon'. Read into the 'Image Coming Soon' what you want but this could be a win-win for fans who want to buy a jersey with Fire on it but also want the club revenue that a sponsorship would bring at a later date. If that happens, the front office deserves some major credit in my opinion.

good stuff -
Neàt opportunity for a purchase. However, is this a sign that a shirt sponsor is nowhere near close to being locked down? Otherwise I don’t know why you go through the trouble of printing amd selling these.

Agreed,
On first glance, that’s exactly what I thought too. That a sponsor may not be in the works. Of course, this could also just be an insurance policy. Hopefully we will get a sponsor, but if that falls through, I suppose the silver lining (if there is one, that is), would be that the FIRE jerseys are already printed up and ready for sale. And if we do get a sponsor, then they just stop printing these and sell the new ones. It seems like demand for the FIRE jerseys is high, so I am assuming they could easily sell the stock left.
I just wish there was some kind of word from the club. Even a “we’re working on it, more to come” would be better than silence.

Well the official line is basically ‘we are working on it’.
There’s just no reason to say that everyday.

Well they have to sell something
It’s also a negotiation tactic. If you go ahead with not having a sponsor, you show other potential sponsors that you aren’t just going to take anything. If it’s a question of taking $1M for 3 years now or taking $2M for 3 years in a couple of months, the cost of printing some jerseys isn’t that big of a deal.
Besides, I think the costs are turned over to the MLS front office, not the Fire so even more reason to hold out.

Aways
Kinda wish they would have thrown “Fire” and the side flag on the away jerseys, I would have been all over that.
/seconded
or throw the four stars across the chest and call it a day.
come to think of it – they should just let us customize jerseys while they sort themselves out. someone get andrew on the line.

I see that it says pre-order
next to the jerseys. Are we sure that they will send the jersey pictured or just wait for the 2011 jersey depending on what it looks like?
Good point...
I didn’t see anywhere on the item where it said something like “final design may look different.” You would think if they are still hopeful for a sponsor, they would add that so they don’t get people ordering the jersey and wanting the FIRE model and getting whatever the actual 2011 model will be instead of what they thought they were getting.
