Theoretical Sponsorship Fun!

With all the speculation of who will be the next Fire sponsor or if the Fire will even have a sponsor, I decided to have a bit of fun and try to come up with a few visual aides. I kind of need visual aides because...well..there is something to be said for aesthetics. Not all sponsors look great on all kits (Getafe FC).  Now, I must confess, I have very little experience with "Photoshop" (actually, I use Gimp cause I'm a Linux guy). With that said, I'm quite pleased with how some of these turned out.

After the the jump, you'll get to see what I put together.

Star-divide

Now, I felt that I should lead off with something that ties in to something else. Yes, that sentence was a little vague, but earlier this week, Tweed wrote a post about the Fire taking a cue from FC Barca and having a charity as their sponsor. First off, I don't pay a lot of attention to the Spanish leagues, so I had no idea about Barca's sponsorship being a charity. Second off, I thought it was a great idea, and so I felt that I should take one of Tweed's sugestions for the Fire and run with it:

Now that I'm looking at it as I write this, I think it might look better with out the white stripe. I'll make a note of that.  Running with the idea of charities, how about a non-profit organization?

Photobucket

I can't explain why, but I've always liked the logo for the Boys and Girls Club.

Then earlier this week, I saw the announcement that Chivas now has Corona as a sponsor. I gotta admit, I'm a little jealous. The new kits look pretty slick. I figure that the Fire can get a beer sponsor, too. Matter of fact, they could one up Chivas and actually get sponsored by a good beer:

But there was also a poll about a month back (which I couldn't find, but I know it was there) that asked about which Chicago company should be the next sponsor for the Fire. As I mentioned, I couldn't find that poll, so i just Googled Chicago companies for ideas. In no particular order, here is what I put together:

Now, there was also a mentioning of just getting rid of the white stripe, so I tried my best.:

Honestly, I don't mind all red. I liked the away jerseys from last year enough that I thought about purchasing one. I still might do that. Here is another company that has it's headquarters in Chicago but without the white stripe:

Photobucket

And I have two more none-white stripe jerseys with Chicago based sponsors. Unfortunately, the sponsor is already sponsoring some other club you might have heard of:

It looks good, but I hate Man U so much. I know it sounds stupid to hate a company because they sponsor a team you hate, but it's the honest truth. If only the Fire had beaten them to the punch. I mean, the logo of AON is so simple that it would work with most anything.

I'm not from Chicago, but I've been there plenty of times; however, because of a few friends of mine in college who were from Chicago, I can't help but tie the next company to Chi-town.

Photobucket

And lastly, I did this one jersey as a tribute to my home town even though the sponsor relocated to Kentucky back in the 1960's.

Photobucket

Yeah, good 'ol Kingsford, MI. I like that look. And I feel that it's very apropos since charcoal helps make...well...you know.

Anyways, if anyone has some more ideas for potential sponsors, or has a sponsor they just want to see on a Fire jersey, let me know in the comments, and I'll see what I can do.

Great work...

very well done on the designs. I like games, so I think the Midway kit looks nice. Also, I agree on the Boys and Girls Club, I think it looks pretty good too. The Guinness one would be wonderful as well. Here’s an alcohol one for you: Goose Island. Since it seems the MLS allows beer sponsors now (not hard liquor yet from what I hear), Goose Island would be good because the Goose logo looks neat, it’s good beer, and it’s from Chicago. Maybe make one of those designs up?

I was also thinking of PS3. You know, then we could have a dual rivalry with Seattle, both on the field and on the jerseys. At least our jerseys wouldn’t have duct tape on them, as Tweed pointed out about Seattle’s new kit.

Of course there’s always Playboy too for a Chicago based company. Not sure MLS would go for that one though. I like the stripe staying on the jersey. If we went all red though, I think we shouldn’t just have a plain red jersey. We should jazz it up a bit, maybe a little like Liverpool’s red jersey and the diamond like design? Could you maybe try a design with a plain Red fire jersey with the diamonds?

Fun Stuff

I’m with you 100% on AON. I hate ManU more than I hate Columbus and Seattle combined.

I would love the white castle lol

I have a soft spot in my heart for White Castle. Now lets hope they would give deals to Fire season ticket holders. lol

NEVER lose the white stripe

I’m good with just about any company that wants to give my club money and desires to be associated with the Fire.

Keep the white stripe though. That’s IS the Fire. Without the stripe, we’re just another soccer team with red jerseys. This year’s away jerseys look so bland and unoriginal precisely because they don’t look like Fire kits.

USMNT Allocation Order

The allocation ranking is the mechanism used to determine which MLS club has first priority to acquire a U.S. National Team player who signs with MLS after playing abroad, or a former MLS player who returns to the League after having gone to a club abroad for a transfer fee. The allocation rankings may also be used in the event two or more clubs file a request for the same player on the same day. The allocations will be ranked in reverse order of finish for the 2010 season, taking playoff performance into account.

Once the club uses its allocation ranking to acquire a player, it drops to the bottom of the list. A ranking can be traded, provided that part of the compensation received in return is another club’s ranking. At all times, each club is assigned one ranking. The rankings reset at the end of each MLS League season.
