David Beckham and Juninho: On Ode to the Yellow Card
Late last night, while we were all in bed,
Juninho and David Beckham went for shins instead,
When the players tipped over, the referee winked his eye and said,
It will be a Hot Time in Old Town tonight.
So yes, long story short, David Beckham received his fifth yellow card in six games last night. MLS players that compile a series of five yellow cards are forced to sit out the following match. Juninho received his second yellow card of the game in the 3rd minute of second half extra time. The Los Angeles Galaxy's next game is this Sunday, April 17th versus our very own Chicago Fire. To add insult to injury... or is it injury to Beckham and Juninho's physical insults... Landon Donovan did not even make the bench last night because he is hurt. Donovan remains questionable for this Sunday's game. The Galaxy squad with Juninho and Beckham played to an ugly draw against Toronto FC last night. Imagine what a Donovan-Beckham-Juninholess team will look like.
This opens up Carlos de los Cobos' options of putting out a top squad tonight against Portland and potentially holding back on Sunday since it looks like we''ll see a quasi LA reserves team. I wouldn't mind getting a good look on players like Daniel Paladini, Davis Paul, Corben Bone and some other guys who have made the bench but not seen MLS minutes. HTIOT will keep you posted on the latest lineup news as it happens.

Fire must try hardest at HOME
While I understand that the Portland game is nationally televised, I feel that the Fire should work hardest to win their home games. This game is unique, in that it’s not just an away game, but a home opener for a new stadium and new team. That’s a lot to overcome, even against a team that’s not very good.
If I could only win one game, I’d rather the Fire win at home and see what happens on the road.

100% agree...
I would love to have thew stronger side feature at home vs. a weakened LA team. Besides, I am still mad at them for the match they tied late at Toyota Park last year on the Gonzalez header. I hope we beat them by 5 goals.
I don’t think there’s any chance we see Bone tonight regardless of what team CDLC puts out there, but I would like to see some Paladini and maybe more Oduro too. Maybe even some KWS on the back line, although he is still probably in the doghouse so I am guessing that may not happen.

Very good point. There’s also the fact that guys like Paladini, Maric, etc. have been rested 100%. Given that and the fact that some of these players might not have a chance to play until the next short week games of June 4 vs. SEA, June 9 vs. KC, and June 12 vs. CLB, some of our subs might have more energy to match Portland’s.
Protect home first.

Glad you enjoyed the line changes.
Might be too late to make a switch with the Portland game but you never know…
