Fire Off-season Not Going Unnoticed
They have pre-season Power Rankings over at the MLS website. It looks like the Fire made a big jump in the rankings. I think the team has got people's attention.

If anything the Fire should be higher.
Chicago had a better finish than SKC and they didn’t play almost all of their games at home. SKC lost Omar Bravo and Davy Arnaud. They brought in Bobby Convey, Paulo Nagamura, Dom Dwyer. Chicago lost Diego Chaves, Joisp Mikulic, and Yamith Cuesta. They brought in Rafael Robayo, Federico Puppo, and Austin Berry. I guess it’s a coin flip but I could see SKC regressing more than the Fire could.
RSL and the Fire – another coin flip. RSL has a longer track record so I’d give it to them. Seattle and LAG are clear favorites. That changes fast if the defense and the new goalie can’t get on the same page for Seattle.

You make good points...
but I am assuming that this is based off the standings of last year, plus new additions/subtractions this year. So even though the Fire additions are better than most, if not all the teams above them, I think missing the playoffs put us down a notch or two. We did end on a great run so hopefully that factored in.
Still, #5 is not too shabby, considering where we were at last year just before we got Pardo and Grazzini.

Tradition. Honor. Passion.
- seems right to me. I’d rather show we are better than Kansas City on the field than in the Power Rankings.
Anyone else get a huge grin when they saw New England at #19?
If you don't have a card, you're not playing hard.
Well that is the number one most important thing so you aren’t too far off!
In 2011, the Fire were better on the field against SKC straight up. 4 points to 1. Yeah, I think they were just trolling New England fans. Jesse Marsch and the Impact have put together a pretty good squad but sight unseen, Impact should be No. 19.
These power rankings are stupid and I actually don’t vote in the SB Nation power rankings in the first week or two but if we are going to talk about them, I’ll chime in with my thoughts.

I guffawed!
They’re ranked lower than a team that hasn’t even played a match in the MLS
