MLS and Chicago Fire 2012 Reserves League Schedule

Chicago Fire striker Orr Barouch was tied for the team lead in goals in Reserves League play in 2011

Major League Soccer released the 2012 Reserves League Schedule today. The league is still divided up into 3 divisions with the Chicago Fire playing in the Central/Mountain Division. As in 2011, the league will only consist of 10 games but Chicago Fire Reserves can set up other exhibition games if they want to. One change from last year is that Reserve League games are much more front-loaded on the calendar. Where Chicago did not play a Reserve League game until April 24 last year, four of Chicago's ten games will take place before April 17 in 2012. This should provide teams with more opportunities to work out any lineup battles.

Chicago enters 2012 as the defending Central/Mountain Division champs. Last year's title earned the team $20,000. The full MLS Reserves League schedule is after the break with Chicago Fire games in bold.

USMNT Allocation Order

The allocation ranking is the mechanism used to determine which MLS club has first priority to acquire a U.S. National Team player who signs with MLS after playing abroad, or a former MLS player who returns to the League after having gone to a club abroad for a transfer fee. The allocation rankings may also be used in the event two or more clubs file a request for the same player on the same day. The allocations will be ranked in reverse order of finish for the 2010 season, taking playoff performance into account.

Once the club uses its allocation ranking to acquire a player, it drops to the bottom of the list. A ranking can be traded, provided that part of the compensation received in return is another club’s ranking. At all times, each club is assigned one ranking. The rankings reset at the end of each MLS League season.
