The Fire are finally back in action today. Happy gameday everyone! And we also have a primetime NBC slot to watch it on. I know I for one am extremely excited. And our Men in Red really need a good showing today. Given the game is at home, 3 points would be a big confidence boost coming off of the stretch we had in terms of bad losses. This extra long break has not helped either.
There should be some intrigue for today's game. The Fire will be a bit fortunate as Thierry Henry is expected to miss today's game. Obviously not having to face a prolific scorer like him is a boost for us, but they still have an on fire Kenny Cooper and we still have an inexperienced CB tandem on the backline. Hopefully Arne Friedrich can log a good chunk of minutes today. For me, that will be the key matchup to today's game: Cooper vs. our backline. If we can find a way to shut him down and create some offense of our own, I think we have a chance to knock off a hot NYRB team.
It should also be pretty exciting to see Chris Rolfe get a good chunk of playing time. While neither he nor Friedrich may get a start, I expect them both to have big impacts in the 2nd half of the game. As always, lineups will be posted when announced. Please join us for all the action and to cheer on the Men in Red. We should have a match recap up tonight or tomorrow, and our normal posting schedule will resume next week. Let's go Fire!
