I am looking forward to seeing the Fire in some goal scoring celebrations tonight. (Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images)
It's that time again folks. Fire gamedays are always fun, but it's even better when we are facing the Crew. With the game only a few hours away, the cauldron of hate should be bubbling for many Fire fans. Not only are we playing a rivalry match, but we get to do it at home in front of Section 8 and our wonderful fans. We will also be looking for revenge after a 2-1 loss earlier this season, which will definitely add fuel to the Fire (pun intended).
Even if they don't start, the Fire should get a boost from an ever healthier Chris Rolfe and hopefully a returning Arne Friedrich. We all saw what Rolfe can do when he shredded New York last week in a brief amount of time. Although our young CB tandem of Jalil Anibaba and Austin Berry looked much better last week, a healthy Arne Friedrich is always a welcome sight. One thing is certain- the Fire seem to be much stronger roster-wise than when we faced Columbus earlier this year.
I think these factors help point to a Fire win. I am going to predict another multi-goal outing for the Men in Red. As Mark pointed out in his preview, the Crew have a pretty stingy defense so a multi-goal outing may seem like a long shot, but Chris Rolfe changes things drastically, especially if he can play a large chunk of time tonight. I think this team is finally starting to turn the corner, and that will show through tonight in a 2-0 win. I am going to call goals by Rolfe and Marco Pappa. As always, please join in the fun on the gamethread. Lineups will be posted when announced.
