Roundup: MLS Moves Galore

"It's okay, Teal - your knees will just love the turf!" - Jamie Squire

Bunbury to New England, Villareal turning into a cautionary tale, Pearce on trial - and the Champions League

All is well in Yallop-land. The youngsters on the Fire looked impressive yesterday against Colorado (all aboard the Benji Joya train!) and we won so that's always a plus. The team is now off until Saturday vs. FC Tucson where more first team players should get minutes. In the mean time, MLS trades are happening, the Champions League played another round and Benji Joya is still awesome.

Bunbury Traded To New England

Sporting KC has so much depth that they traded away forward Teal Bunbury for a 2015 1st round pick and a pile of allocation money. This move helps dump some salary while stockpiling more allocation money which you can never have enough of. This is a great move also for New England which will help them replace Agudelo and keep their own youth movement going.

Villareal Sent to Cruz Azul's Second Team

The weird move of Jose Villareal take a turn for the worse as they have been sent to Cruz Azul's team in the second division. Villareal who is on loan with an option to buy has now gone from about to break in the Galaxy first team to the second division in Mexico. This is not a good move for him and U.S. fans can only hope that this situation improves.

Heath Pearce in Camp with Montreal

The well-traveled left back has joined the Impact in camp with a chance to earn a contract. It'll be interesting to see if he can force his way on to the team. It's actually kind of surprising that he is still available. Even though he isn't the best in the league, he is a veteran presence in the back line.

New York Red Bulls Lose a Young Forward

An 18 year old homegrown forward named Amando Moreno left the Red Bulls after one year to move to Club Tijuana. His contract was up after one season and refused a new contract in order to move to Mexico. He made a total of two appearances last year but he is only 18. This is a worrying move because New York brought him into the first team and then lost him for nothing.

Arsenal, AC Milan Lose

Another round of UEFA Champions League games were played with AC Milan losing to Atletico Madrid 1-0 on a late Diego Costa header. Arsenal lost 2-0 to the German powerhouse Bayern Munich. Both teams missed a penalty kick in the first half which included Arsenal goalkeeper Szczesny being shown a red. Kroos and Muller were the scorers for the German who look like possible favorites for a repeat this year.
