Ed Sherman with Crain's Chicago Business has the story:
"The Chicago Fire is about to venture into the land of oatmeal, cereal and granola bars.
The team is in the process of finalizing a contract with Quaker Oats Co. to be the Fire's new jersey sponsor, according to sources. The deal would start with the 2012 season, with Quaker reportedly paying $1.3 million to $1.5 million a year."
Crain's always gets the sponsor news. Keep that in mind. More on this story as it develops. There is a team press conference scheduled for later this week.
UPDATE: Sherman has since corrected the article to say it is "$7.5 million to $8 million over three years." That is much, much better. $4.5 million over three years could have been secured awhile ago. Great business by the front office locking this in.
