Gemini, Libra or Virgo, no matter what your Zodiac, give to the Section 8 Food Drive & get to the Annual Post-Holiday Party

Section 8 Chicago, the Independent Supporters' Association for the Chicago Fire Soccer Club, is teaming with the Greater Chicagoland Food Depository to combat hunger at the dawn of 2011. S8C is taking a two-pronged approach, initiating both an Virtual Food Drive and also organizing an event where donations can be accepted in person.

All donations can be made tomorrow, Saturday, January 15 at Small Bar, 1415 W. Fullerton from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  The items that are most needed include Chunk Light Tuna, Oatmeal, Baby Food, and Peanut Butter.  All non-perishable items will be collected on site.  After donating, people are encouraged to join Section 8 Chicago inside Small Bar for their Annual Post-Holiday Party that officially starts at 8:00 PM but Fire fans will be in Small Bar all day long.  The party is free but there will be $20 tickets available that will be redeemable for food and drink specials with a portion of that ticket going to charity.  Soccer fans from around Chicagoland will be attending so you know old and future friends will be there aplenty.

If you can't make it out but still want to give to a good cause, be sure to visit the 'Virtual Food Drive': http://vad.aidmatrix.org/vadxml.cfm?driveid=4948.  By clicking on that link, you can purchase items at a special bulk rate through the Greater Chicagoland Food Depository and give even more of a 'bang for your buck'.  Can you give 13.5 pounds of oatmeal for $8.19?  40 pounds of apples for $12?  360 eggs for $15.90?  The need for donated food is at its highest after the holidays, major props to Section 8 for getting this done.
