Los Angeles Galaxy vs. Chicago Fire Game Thread - MLS #5

You know this is how you felt when you realized it was game day.
You know this is how you felt when you realized it was game day.

Today's game against the Los Angeles Galaxy kicks off at 3:00 PM CST.  Don't forget that you might want to bring some extra cash because today is the Grand Opening of the Chicago Fire Toyota Park team store and Section 8 is holding the silent auction for the cf#97 armbands that were worn by the players in the home opener to commemorate the 4th anniversary of the publishing of Brandon Kitchen's 'Stand and Deliver'.

The game is on Telefutura.  In Chicago, that's channel 60.  This is a nationally televised game so you should be able to watch it from anywhere.

Watch out for the Galaxy's Michael Stephens and Mike Magee.  I'll have a full write-up later but I got a chance to talk to them on Friday.  They both grew up in Chicago and have family here.  If either of them point to the stands, don't worry, they are more than likely pointing to their family, not taunting the crowd.

ESPN's Charlie Corr reported that Josip Mikulic is ready to go.  It's possible that we will see a 3-5-2 with Mikulic's return.  The defensive line is weary after the Northwest trip, the Fire roster features more fresh midfileders than defensive backs at this point, and Mikulic has been the key to the 3-5-2.  Whatever the formation, Mikulic is the team's best defender right now.  His return is welcome news.  Corr also reported that de los Cobos would not commit to Sean Johnson or Jon Conway in goal.  My guess is we'll see a more conservative 4-4-2 but Los Angeles will not have Landon Donovan, David Bekcham or Juninho.  LA is also on short rest.  de los Cobos could look to strike early and often with the more dynamic 3-5-2.  For more preview information, be sure to check out Dave Wilson's Smolderings.

My prediction: Chicago Fire 2 - Los Angeles Galaxy 1
