It looks like we have a player signing before the draft after all. Colombian international and apparently now former Millonarios player Rafael Robayo announced over Twitter today:
Gracias DIOS por esta linda oportunidad de jugar en la MLS y muchas gracias al Chicago Fire por haberse interesado en mi como refuerzo
Robayo had also used the social network last week to announce that he was unable to reach an agreement with his current club. Millonarios is the same team that former Chicago Fire defender Wilman Conde and former Fire head coach Juan Carlos Osorio have ties with.
It's hard to gauge where Robyao will play but he would be a welcome addition to the club. There are concerns for Sebastian Grazzini's health and Marco Pappa's transfer rumors. Robayo should be a valuable part of Frank Klopas' rotation without some of the problems that come with big names. This deal seems to be official and only needing confirmation from the Chicago Fire and Major League Soccer. Obligatory highlight reel after the break.
