The Chicago Fire will open their 2013 MLS campaign on Sunday, March 3rd when they travel to the Home Depot Center to take on the LA Galaxy in what will surely be a nationally televised match-up with the defending league champions. The Men in Red lost their only encounter with LA when they dropped a 2-0 decision last July.
The Men in Red will open up Toyota Park the following week when they play host to the New England Revolution on Saturday, March 9th. While the Revs didn't make the playoffs and had a fairly disappointing season, they did manage to win the season series with the Fire last year, winning their two home games at Gillette Stadium while the Fire took full points in their lone encounter in Bridgeview.
Finally, La Maquina Roja will open up LIVESTRONG Sporting Park on Saturday, March 16 in a match-up with "rivals" Sporting Kansas City. The Fire won the series last year, but lost perhaps the pivotal match of their encounters last September when a win would have vaulted the Men in Red into first place.
So, what does everything think? Anyone planning to make the trip to LA or KC? Will Toyota Park be filled to capacity on March 9th?
