Darren Mattocks was selected by the Vancouver Whitecaps with the 2nd pick in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft. The Jamaican born forward attended the University of Akron for two seasons before jumping to MLS. He only played one minute between March 10th and May 5th but has been featuring regularly since he debuted on May 12th against the New England Revolution. His first MLS goal came against Portland two weeks later. Mattocks needed just a seven minute subsitution appearance to make it happen. In his next start, he scored two goals against the Houston Dynamo. On July 4th he scored another goal against the Rapids. And tonight, well tonight he scored yet another brace, this time against Toronto FC.

It's not Eric Hassli or Sebastien Le Toux who will lead the Vancouver Whitecaps in goals when they visit Toyota Park this Saturday, July 14. That honor goes to Darren Mattocks who has played just 520 minutes this year. After the break, take a look at the vertical on Mattocks' second goal tonight. Let's just say Austin Berry better have an extra spring in his step this weekend
