MLS Disciplinary Committee Suspends and Fines LA Galaxy Midfielder David Beckham; Fines Arena and Marsch
NEW YORK (July 5, 2012) – The MLS Disciplinary Committee has suspended LA Galaxy midfielder David Beckham one game and fined him an undisclosed amount for his confrontational and provocative behavior during and immediately following the Galaxy’s 4-3 loss at San Jose on June 30. The Committee considered his conduct unacceptable and detrimental to the League’s public image. Beckham will serve his suspension this Sunday when the Galaxy travel to face the Chicago Fire at 3 p.m. ET (ESPN).
The Committee also levied undisclosed fines for public criticism of the officials to LA Galaxy Coach Bruce Arena and Montreal Impact Coach Jesse Marsch.
Fines collected will be donated to the charitable partners of MLS W.O.R.K.S. and the MLS Players Union.
