The only Kansas City player to score against the Chicago Fire in 2012 could be in the lineup on Friday. Normally this wouldn't be big news but KC's Bobby Convey has been injured since an August 4th match at New England's Gillette Stadium.

MLSSoccer.com's Steve Brisendine spoke with Convey earlier this week.

"It's been a difficult year, because I've had two major muscle pulls that have taken a while to recover from," he said. "It wasn't really what I was expecting was going to happen this year. I expected to play a lot more than I have, but it is what it is, and I'm ready to get back."

It would be bold of KC head coach Peter Vermes to start Convey. The Kansas based side has no sense of urgency to simply qualify for the playoffs. Sports Club Stats gives KC a 100% chance of getting into the post-season. With Teal Bunbury out for the season, Convey will likely be transitioned in slowly so the 29 year-old winger/forward will be ready for when it matters the most.

Convey scored KC's lone 2012 goal against Chicago on May 12 in a game that the Fire eventually went on to win 2-1 at Toyota Park.
