Make sure you click on the embedded video below for live, streaming coverage courtesy of Chicago-Fire.com. Please stop by, watch the action, and join us in the comments section to talk about the Fire during the match. Before we get into the action, there are a couple of things I wanted to make you aware of.
- According to the official Fire website, it seems likely that Tony Walls will be waived by the team imminently. This would cut down on our back line depth, but I am sure the team has a plan or two in place to bring someone else in to fill in his spot on the roster. We thank Tony for his time and hard work with the Fire and wish him the best of luck.
- Orlando City MF Luke Boden left camp Friday, so it would appear he is already out of the plans. As I speculated in my trialist list article, I thought he might have had a chance to make the squad. Well, that idea was short lived apparently.
- One fun part of pre-season is that sometimes we wet "mystery players". There are two listed as available for selection today. One is a GK, and the other is a forward (not Archer or Rolfe). It should be interesting to see who these players are. I guess we will find out in 3 hours.
- Players not active for selection today are: Sean Johnson, Arne Friedrich, Corben Bone, Victor Pineda, Kellen Gulley, and the aforementioned Tony Walls will not appear today for various reasons. Patrick Nyarko will also not play, and Paolo Tornaghi is questionable. This should mean we get to see a lot of the trialists, as well as some of our new players like Joel Lindpere, Jeff Larentowicz, and Maicon Santos hopefully. if they do play, I wouldn't expect them to play a long amount of time. It will be good to see them in Fire red though.
Alright folks, here it is! The live stream of pre-season game #1 starting at 3 PM CST:
