'Tis the season for giving, and the annual Section 8 Holiday Food Drive is just around the corner. Below is the official press release from Section 8 with all the details and need-to-knows to get involved. We kindly ask that you use the contact information below to help make the holidays special for those in need.
Section 8 Chicago Seeking Volunteers for Holiday Food Drive
From its inception, Section 8 Chicago Independent Supporters' Association (ISA) and this community have emphasized charitable contributions a core component of its identity. During this holiday season, the ISA is again organizing an annual food drive on behalf of the Greater Chicago Food Depository It is estimated that over 800,000 individuals in Chicago and Cook County do not know where their next meal is coming from.
"S8C annual food drive something I hope gets bigger every year. I definitely put pressure on myself to make sure every year our food total is higher than the previous," says Section 8 Board member Marty Groark.
With the help of the GCFD, Section 8 Chicago has been given a list of stores in the Chicago area as possible locations for S8C to physically collect food from shoppers on the weekends of Sat Dec 14 & Sun Dec 15 OR Sat Dec 21 & Sun Dec 22. Those interested in volunteering at any location can contact Jeff@s8c.org for more info.
Section 8 has also set up a donation page with the Greater Chicago Food Depository for Fire fans to make a contribution to support their efforts at feeding those in need. Last year, through their online donations Fire Fans collected over 1,500 meals for hungry people.
