Major League Soccer Invites 50 Seniors to Player Combine

It's MLS Combine time!

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Major League Soccer released a list of 50 college seniors who will be invited to the 2014 Adidas MLS Player Combine from January 10-14 in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Of the the players named, a total four players on the list will be battling for the NCAA College Cup this weekend at PPL Park in Chester, PA.:

The University of Virginia is not being represented as they only have two seniors on their entire roster, and neither senior received an invite to the combine. 2015 might be a different story with players like Eric Bird and Ryan Zinkhan becoming seniors next year.

The full list of combine invitees can be found here.

The MLS SuperDraft will be taking place January 16 in Philadelphia - just two days after the combine wraps up. At the moment, the Chicago Fire hold the 8th pick in the 2014 SuperDraft.

A good question to ponder is, if the Fire and Harrison Shipp agree to a Homegrown Player contract, do the Fire keep their draft pick to stock up on young talent or do they try to trade the pick to fill a need on the roster?
