The Men in Red keep on streaking, but a couple more wins this week would really send Fire fans into overdrive

If the Fire can notch 6 points this week, the Men in Red will be sitting pretty heading into a very important summer transfer window. Depending on results in the New England and Houston matches, the Fire could be in a playoff position imminently. Who would have called that 6 weeks ago? It's quite remarkable how much the team has progressed in recent weeks. Not to mention the games in hand we have against most teams above us.

While there are still some things to work on (namely a shaky back line), the Fire have a winnable game against a San Jose team that has allowed 27 goals thus far this season. Their defense has been a huge liability, and the Fire now have an offense that can take advantage of that. Not to mention how sick and tired I am of hearing about the "Goonies". San Jose has turned into a team of thuggish brutes, and I for one don't feel sorry about their struggles at all. And I know most of you don't like them either.

Following up the SJ match, another home match against little brother KC looms. I can't think of a better way to wrap up a holiday week than to beat the Sporks at home yet again. The Fire have to be considered one of the hottest teams in MLS right now, and I see that play continuing this next week. With the Fire midfield really starting to solidify, one has to feel that it is all coming together.

and all of this culminates with the summer transfer window opening after that. We have all heard rumors linking various players to the Fire. Yesterday news came out that Carlos Bocanegra is becoming a free agent too and could come back to MLS. I fully expect the Fire to add another piece or two to really make an all out push for the playoffs and beyond this season. It's going to be a fun next 7 days.

There won't be a Fireside Chat for the SJ game, but join us for the rest of the normal gameweek festivities. And then we will do it again a few days later for the KC game. Let's go Fire!
