This game is going to be a huge test for the Chicago Fire. It's been a little over three months since we last played the Montreal Impact, but that loss still sticks with me. Yes, it wasn't the worst loss the Fire had all season, but at the time, the Fire had strung together three straight promising performances before getting completely shut down by the Impact. It was a pretty big reality check.
Since that game, the Fire have added Bakary Soumare and Mike Magee, which has helped the team significantly. Sherjill MacDonald has not even been making the bench as of late. Dilly Duka has since developed chemistry with his teammates and has become a crucial part of the Fire midfield. A lot has changed, and this is Chicago's opportunity to show that they're a better team since that loss back in April.
There are going to be some obstacles to over come to get three points tonight. The Fire are a little banged up right now, and it's possible that Mike Magee might not be ready to go today. The Fire are alo going to have to play without Patrick Nyarko in the line up.
I don't think that the Chicago Fire can settle for anything less than three points tonight. The New England Revolution is playing Sporting Kansas City at Sporting Park. If New England loses, the Fire have an opportunity to surpass them in the standings with a win. The Fire would also have a game in hand on the Revs.
Let's go Fire! Line ups will be posted below.
UPDATE: Mike Magee is sitting this one out. Logan Pause will be in the starting XI.
