According to Chicago-Fire.com, Egidio Arévalo Ríos could be eligible to play on Saturday. The latest Designated Player for the Fire has been training with the team but is not eligible to play due to the lack of open international slots on the Fire's roster. According to the Fire Front Office, they might have that kink worked out.
The hold-up for Rios’ clearance continues to be the lack of an available international roster spot but the club has been forthcoming in saying they’re seeking a loan for Dutch forward Sherjill MacDonald and Klopas indicated Tuesday that could be close.
It sounds like the Fire might have found a new home for Sherjill. With Sherjill gone, it would allow the Fire to play Rios. In case some of you haven't gone on to YouTube to look up highlight of Rios, here is a clip for you:
Rios strength seems to be his ability to read the game and anticipate the opponents next move. When he sees an opportunity to break up a play, he jumps in and attacks with the persistence and aggression of a junkyard dog. It is going to be a lot of fun watching this guy in play in for the Men in Red.
