The Chicago Fire have announced that a press conference will be held at Toyota Park on Friday, January 24 at 1:00 p.m. CST. This press conference will take place the day before Fire players show up for their preseason physicals and medical exams, and will be streamed live on the club's website. By the end of this weekend, the Fire will be down in Ave Maria, Florida.
The "WHAT" of the press release states, "Preview 2014 season and introduce technical staff." The part about introducing technical staff sounds more like it is about introducing Frank Yallop, Brian Bliss and C.J. Brown and not so much about introducing new staff, but that does not rule out the possibility that Clint Mathis could be introduced tomorrow.
With preseason training starting up, the start of the 2014 season is very close, but it still feels so far away. Only 45 more days to go until the Fire kick off the new season down in Los Angles against Chivas USA.
[EDIT: Now that the press conference is done, here's the archive of it for anyone out there unfortunate enough to miss it. Thanks to Jeff Crandall and the Fire for providing the live stream of the event!]
