It's been less than a month since Harrison Shipp led the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame to a national title. Since then, we haven't heard much about #cf97 adding to their roster, besides picking up experienced defender/midfielder Lovel Palmer. Well, Jeffrey Carlisle of ESPN is reporting that a source within the Fire feels Shipp's signing is going to happen.
Not a surprise, but a Chicago Fire spokesperson says that signing of ND fwd Harrison Shipp to homegrown contract is "imminent". #cf97

If this turns out to be true, Shipp's addition will do nothing but help this team, especially as his Homegrown contract won't count against the salary cap - the Fire are getting one of the best talents in the nation essentially for free. He may not fit into the starting lineup right away, but I'm pretty sure with time, he could be a fixture in Fire red for years to come. I can't wait to see what he brings to the table.
