Chicago Fire Rec Soccer
Do you long for your glory days on the high school or college pitch? Do you ever watch a match and think, I could do that almost as well? Now is your chance. Chicago Fire Rec Soccer is once again offering opportunities for fans who enjoy playing the sport as much as watching an opportunity to put their money where their mouth is.
The Chicago Fire Rec Soccer leagues offer a variety of options at a variety of experience levels. Although most leagues are at capacity, there is still one option left. The leagues have already begun but a recent check of the Chicago Fire Rec Soccer page shows registration is still open in 1 league. A Saturday Coed (Championship) League on Turf began on April 5th. Games are played on Saturdays at Montrose Field. Details are here.
The remaining league costs $125.00 to register as an individual and it appears there is not space left available to register as a team which had cost $1,495.00.
Unfortunately there is no longer space in the Wednesday Men's turf (Premier) league. The Wednesday league is played at Foster Ave field and began on April 9th. For details see here. But why not stop by if you are in the area and watch the Chicago Fire community enjoy a friendly game of footy.
Lets see if you have what it takes for Chicago Fire Rec Soccer.
Red Stars
Are you someone who's thirst for live soccer is not satiated by the Chicago Fire alone? Are you looking for more opportunities to see live action? Why not the Chicago Red Stars? The Chicago Red Stars 2014 schedule was recently released - find it here.
The next live match that you can catch the Red Stars is at your very own Toyota Park. On April 19, the Fire are hosting the Chicago Red Stars in a doubleheader at Toyota Park! Next Saturday, come out and see the Fire take on the New England Revolution at 3 p.m. and stay to watch the Chicago Red Stars take on the Western New York Flash at 5:45 pm. This event should make for a terrific, fun day of soccer.
Early Warning!- Chicago Marathon
Do you like to run - when I say run, I mean run long distances. Consider joining the Chicago Fire Foundation team for the 2014 Chicago Marathon! If you are someone who plans to run 26.2 miles in one day, it is never too early to begin getting ready. If you would like information about joining Team CFF for the 2014 Chicago Marathon contact jvansparrentak@chicago-fire.com or click thru here.
Section 8 Board Meeting
For fans who would like to get engaged in fan culture, would like to hop a bus out of town, get excited about creating banners and want to impact the results of the matches consider becoming involved with the Independent Supporters Association. The monthly board meeting is open to all fans of the Fire and will be held Wednesday May 7th at 7 pm to 9 pm at the Atlantic Bar and Grill, 5062 N Lincoln Ave, Chicago, IL 60625.
I went to my first board meeting back in March and found it to be a terrific way to connect with people. The room was filled with people extremely passionate about their ideals and it was interesting to learn more about supporter culture.
Art of Futbol
Do you like art? Do you like football? Then you might like the Chicago Fire Foundation's Art of Futbol event to be held on Wednesday May 14th. If you are interested in submitting a piece to the exhibit that is related to the beautiful game contact artoffutbol@chicago-fire.com. Stay tuned for more details!
