So I was very wrong and very late to change information. I apologize for that Hot Timers. But as you likely know by now, Brian Bliss is still with the team. Goalkeeping coach Aron Hyde, Strength and Conditioning coach Adrian Lamb and Head of Scouting Trevor James were indeed released, however.
So Nelson Rodriguez made some changes and the biggest one is likely still very near as that self-imposed, in no way set-in-stone Thanksgiving deadline is looming to name the next permanent coach.
[Rodriguez] hopes to have a coach in place by Thanksgiving.
"We can’t wait to see who’s available [in December]. That would be negligent. We have a list of candidates already and I’ve been naively surprised at some of the folks who’ve expressed interest," Rodriguez said.
Bliss could still be a candidate for the job as he remains on board. Outside speculation has Bliss potentially leaving after the SuperDraft, but it's hard to tell what is going to happen with any staff movement until a new coach is in place.
So here we are. The day is nigh. Fire fans will likely find out who the next coach will be within the week. Will it be rumored candidate Guillermo Barros Schelotto, the former Argentine national team member with MLS experience at Columbus? Will it be Rodriguez buddy Tab Ramos? WILL IT BE TIM SHERWOOD?!
I'm still sad it's not this man. Wins are important and all and I want the team to win, but really I would be more than happy to watch Miguel Herrera sideline reactions every game.
