Since I took over the editorship of Hot Time, the Fire have won four times, I think. I don't want to look it up, because I don't work here anymore, but that feels about right, give or take - 30 months, something like 200,000 words over 200-plus stories, and ehhhhhhh, yeah I think it was about four wins.
So it comes to this: I'm just burnt out. 2015 did me in. 2015, and 2014, and 2013, and ... ugh.
We had some good times, though, right? 'Magic Mike' won MVP and we called him a genius. We picked fights with the front office. We watched Harry Shipp blossom into a real American enganche right before our eyes. We made fun of the awful kits. We called Peter Vermes a douchebag. We tried to caution the powers-what-is that they can't just reboot-reboot-reboot without longterm consequences.
So, Jeff Engelhardt is going to take over, and I'm going on gardening leave. Here's to a bright new future for Hot Time and CF97, and happy days for everyone involved.
