The Chicago Fire announced Wednesday that midfielder/forward David Accam has been called into the Ghana national team camp for upcoming African Cup of Nations matches.
I would assume he got called into the team because he can do this.
Unlike some previous call-ups for Accam, Ghana did the Fire a solid this time around and took the speedy playmaker before a bye week. With games on March 24 and March 27 for Ghana, Accam should be back and ready to play in the April 2 game against Philadelphia.
Obviously the main concern for Fire fans is to see Accam return healthy from his two-game stint. Ghana, which is leading their group in qualifiers for the African Cup, is set to play a home-and-home series with Mozambique, which is last in the group. It should be very easy sailing for Accam and his teammates.
