Chicago Fire vs Los Angeles Galaxy, 7:30 p.m. CT (CSN+)
Happy game day everyone!
The weather at Toyota Park is expected to be cloudy and rainy but for once there are sunny feelings around the team after the Fire broke their 36-game, MLS road winless streak Saturday in Montreal in dominant fashion.
The good times could keep rolling Wednesday as the Fire has another chance to break a bleak streak. The Fire have not beat the L.A. Galaxy at Toyota Park! That could change tonight if the Fire and Galaxy keep their respective Saturday forms.
The problem is there are bigger storylines at play here that could mean a motivated Galaxy team.
1) The return of former MVP Mike Magee and former Fire captain Jeff Larentowicz. Both could start and both will be motivated.
2) Bruce Arena seeking his 200th victory as a manager. That is a huge milestone and one the team will want to reach for their man on the sideline.
3) This is the historical start of the “Galaxy Run” we see each and every year as they look to peak for the playoffs.
I touched on most of those points in the preview for the game, but the truth is those are all motivating factors that make this struggling Galaxy side a bit more dangerous than they appear.
But game days are fun days and when they happen mid-week they are a nice distraction from work. So stop on in and share your predictions and thoughts in the thread. We will update the post when lineups are available.
