The day is finally here. The Chicago Fire are going to try and win a road game.
Despite all the frustration of the season, this team has a chance to win a trophy. To get a crack at glory, they need to win this U.S. Open Cup semifinal in New England – which is of course the site of their last road victory two years ago.
I have no idea how they will do it. But I know I will be distracted and a nervous mess all day as I wait for the game to start. This is a warm, safe place for us all to unload some of that nervous energy. Feel free to share your hopes and dreams, your fears and sadness. We are here for you.
7 p.m. is a long way away. But we’ll get there together.
