The National Women’s Soccer League announced their Second XI on Tuesday afternoon and three Chicago Red Star players were honored.
The NWSL awards are voted on by club officials, players, media outlets, and fans. The group decided that Red Star midfielders Danielle Colaprico, Julie Ertz, and Sofia Huerta would receive this year’s honor.
Julie Ertz and Danielle Colaprico make the list for the third time in their careers, and appears on the list for a second time.
In all four years of Ertz’s professional career she has earned a spot on either the NWSL First XI or Second XI. The Second XI list consists of the next leading vote recipients who didn’t make the NWSL First XI list. The NWSL will release the league’s First XI this Thursday.
