UPDATE:

The information below has been edited to reflect the date/time announcement.

The 2017 MLS Regular Season is over. And with their shambolic 3-0 loss to Houston today and the rest of Decision Day in the books, the Chicago Fire’s path to the MLS Cup Final is coming into focus.

The journey begins on Wednesday at 7:30pm at Toyota Park against the New York Red Bulls.

The Fire have had a strong record overall at home (12W 2L 3D), so maintaining home field advantage for this Knockout Round tie will be a huge boost for the Men In Red. But our record against NYRB this season hasn’t been great— a 2-1 loss on the road in April and a 1-1 draw at home last month. The Fire will need to dig deep and, uh, basically do the opposite of what they did today.

We’re all frustrated and angry about the loss in Houston today. But let’s try not to lose sight of the fact that the Chicago Fire are back in the playoffs. Postseason soccer is back in Chicago in 3 days.
