Basti Picked for MLS Team of the Week

Bastian Schweinsteiger was named to the MLS Team of the Week on Monday for his debut performance against the Montreal Impact.

The German World Cup winner earned Man of the Match honors for his performance in a 2-2 draw against last season’s eastern conference runner-ups. Schweinsteiger scored a headed goal in the 17th minute off a well-worked set piece, and had a solid display of passing during his first 90 minutes on the pitch.

Also included in the MLS Team of the Week for week 5 is Columbus Crew midfielder Justin Meram. The Iraqi international is expected to lineup across from Schweini when the Fire welcome the Crew to Toyota Park on April 8.
