Six Fire Players Named To The MLS Team Of The Week

While the abbreviated weekend schedule winnowed down the competition, the Fire nevertheless made out like bandits in this week’s MLS Team Of The Week nominations.

The Best XI for the week included four Fire players: Nemanja Nikolic, Bastian Schweinsteiger, David Accam, and João Meira. All four men played crucial roles in the Fire’s 2-0 win at home over Atlanta United on Saturday.

The bench for the TotW also included Matt Polster and Michael de Leeuw, making for six Chicago players out of a possible 18. Not a bad outing.

Fire head coach Veljko Paunovic was also named MLS’ manager of the week.
