Red Stars 1, Washington 1: Woman of the Match

Chicago battles through heat, humidity, and fatigue to rescue a point

So, not the Red Stars’ best performance of the season. Despite looking the better side through long stretches of the game, Chicago couldn’t convert their chances and ended up spending much of the second half chasing Washington while a goal down. A late penalty call gave the Red Stars a lifeline, allowing them to hang on for the draw in an otherwise disappointing performance. We’re going to pick Dani Colaprico for our Woman Of The Match— her work on and off the ball helped keep the midfield composed, and she even managed a couple strong chances for a goal.
