Fire midfielder Dax McCarty wasn’t the only Chicago player chosen for international duty over the weekend. Star forward David Accam was called up for two friendly matches with Ghana this week.
Ghana will face Mexico in Houston on June 28 in a friendly that will serve as a warm up match for Mexico before the Gold Cup kicks off. Following their trip to Texas, the Black Stars will head to Connecticut to square-off against the United States in a friendly on July 1. In similar fashion, this will serve as a warm up game for the USMNT before they try and reclaim the coveted North American championship— it will also pit Accam against Fire teammate Dax McCarty.
Accam first appeared for Ghana in 2015 at the African Cup of Nations. He has since made seven appearances, netting one goal.
The King has already left for camp— according to a club statement— where the Black Stars began training on Sunday.
