The Fire continue to snag some impressive kudos from the league.
Matt Doyle published his TOTW for Week 17 yesterday on behalf of the editorial team at MLSSoccer Dot Com. The best-of nods feature David Accam and Matt Polster in the week’s Best XI.
Accam, of course, bagged himself a hat trick in the Fire’s 4-0 demolition derby with Orlando City. Polster was involved in the build-up to the first goal of the game, earning him a spot in the TOTW backline.
Bastian Schweinsteiger was named as a “substitute” in the TOTW, while Fire head coach Veljko Paunović was named manager for the team.
Accam is currently away on international duty with Ghana. He’ll miss the next three games with the Fire— the USOC tie in Cincinnati tomorrow and league fixtures against Vancouver and Portland. The Fire then get a couple weeks off thanks to the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
