The U.S. Women’s National Team roster has been announced for the upcoming Tournament of Nations. And the Chicago Red Stars will be well-represented.

Four Chicago players were named to the 23-player roster by Head Coach Jill Ellis. Julie Ertz, Alyssa Naeher, Christen Press, and Casey Short will join up with the USWNT squad, while Sofia Huerta has also been invited to train with team throughout the tournament.

Huerta will be able to participate in training camp, but is unable to play in the tournament for the U.S side. In 2012 Huerta played for Mexico during the U-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup. With five caps for their senior team, she is not eligible play for the United States. Although the U.S Soccer is filing a change of association with FIFA, if approved Huerta would be able to play for the United States. Huerta was drafted by the Chicago Red Stars back in 2015, and currently has 3 goals and 3 assists for the Red Stars this season.

The four-team tournament will feature FIFA ranked top ten teams in USA, Brazil, Australia, and Japan. Games will take place July 27 through August 3 and be hosted in the U.S. along the west coast. Matches will take place in Seattle, Washington, along with San Diego and Carson, California.

The U.S National Team games will be available for viewing on ESPN and ESPN 2. Double-header matches not featuring the USA will be available via ESPN 3. Red Stars fans can participate via social media channels using the hashtag #ToN2017.
