Nemanja Nikolic— you know, that guy— was voted MLS Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters for week 18 of the 2017 season on Monday.
The Hungarian international earned the honors for his performance against the Vancouver Whitecaps this past weekend, a match in which Nikolic recorded a first half brace.
This is the second time this season that Fire’s designated player has earned the award, having been recognized previously for his performance against New England in April. This is also the second week in a row in which a Fire player received the POTW nod, with David Accam getting the credit last weekend.
Nikolic’s first goal proved to the winner on Saturday, a victory that extends Chicago’s unbeaten streak to 10 games—including four straight wins.
The Fire forward has an MLS-leading 16 goals on the season, and Chicago find themselves atop both the Eastern Conference and the Supporters’ Shield standings.
The Men in Red return to action Wednesday when they travel to Portland for a midweek fixture and the last league game before the Gold Cup break.
