Matt Polster announced Thursday that he will be fit for the Fire’s game against NYCFC after the Gold Cup break. The news comes less than 24 hours after suffering an injury in Chicago’s 2-2 draw with Portland last night that forced him to leave the game late in the first half.
The US international took to Twitter to share the news, writing, “Minor set back. I will be good to go by NYCFC! Thanks for checking in.”

Polster— who has transitioned from midfielder to right back this season— has been brilliant in his new role on the outside of the formation. He had been named in back-to-back Teams of the Week leading into last night’s match against Portland, having recorded two assists against Vancouver and one against Orlando.
Chicago will return from the Gold Cup break on July 22nd for their clash with NYCFC at Yankee Stadium.
