The Red Stars announced Wednesday afternoon they had acquired Houston Dash midfielder and United States Women’s National team mainstay Morgan Brian and future considerations.

In exchange, The Dash receive Kristie Mewis and future considerations. Mewis spent just ten days with the Red Stars but was effective in her first and only appearance, scoring one goal in the Red Stars 2-1 victory over the Washington Spirit.
Brian was selected with the first overall pick in the 2015 NWSL college draft and has spent all of her career with the Dash. She has earned 66 caps for the United States and was a key player in the 2015 World Cup.
She will join the Red Stars in the midst of the club’s playoff push and will likely feature prominently for Chicago the rest of the season.
