Montreal Impact 0, Chicago Fire 1: Man of the Match

Schweinsteiger got the goal, but tonight was Matt Polster’s night

MLS: Chicago Fire at Montreal Impact Jean-Yves Ahern-USA TODAY Sports

After a sleepy first half, both Montreal and Chicago came out of the break with newfound energy. The two Eastern Conference sides exchanged a series of punches, but after the Impact were reduced to ten men, the Fire managed to take control of the match. In the 59th minute, Bastian Schweinsteiger did his thing and tucked home a beautiful, slotted pass from Matt Polster to put Chicago up 1-0. And the outside back is taking home Man of the Match honors for his performance tonight. Polster was up and down the field, and really played well in both the attacking and defensive thirds of the pitch. The Fire really missed his presence these last few weeks, and his performance tonight proved how valuable he is to the team. Welcome back, Matt!
