Major League Soccer confirmed that the 2019 SuperDraft will be held in Chicago in January.

According to the official statement, the league will first host the MLS Combine in Orlando to give coaches and scouts the opportunity to evaluate prospective young talent. Everyone then gets to fly north to experience the sublime beauty of Chicago Winter and crowd into McCormick Place, where teams will start haggling ahead of selection time.

Four players selected by the Chicago Fire in the 2018 SuperDraft made it onto the final roster ahead of the start of the regular season: Jon Bakero, Mo Adams, Diego Campos, Elliot Collier. Jon Bakero was ultimately traded to Toronto FC in exchange for Nico Hasler. The other three have spent long stretches of the season on loan or in Pauno’s doghouse.

In recent years the SuperDraft has been held as conducting during the annual United Soccer Coaches Convention, which is essentially the premier industry conference for American Soccer. The convention will also host the NWSL College Draft, along with a wide-ranging bill of seminars and other programming.

The SuperDraft is scheduled for January 11th.
