James Bridget Gordon: Happy Monday, all.
I realize I’m scraping the barrel a bit here, but: give me any positives you took away from the game.
Adnan Bašić: Polster is back, which is great to see. Same with McClain since he was decent as well. No one got injured.
That’s all I’ve got.
Ruel Gutierrez Apostol: Polster is back. Now go extend his contract.
James Bridget: Polster coming back is definitely nice. Wish it could’ve been sooner, but bodies are weird and stupid.
MDL scored. That was nice.
Adnan: A good goal as well even tho it was lucky
Is his deal up at the end of the year?
RJ: Yeah his contract is up at the end of the year along with MDL, among others.
Adnan: It’s gonna be a big offseason then. Especially since the club will probable have to find a replacement for Kappelhof.
RJ: Use that Morningstar money to renew their contracts.
Adnan: Hopefully that actually kicks in eventually.
RJ: I just want this season to be done with. But hey, at least Toronto FC and the Revs joins the Fire in not making the playoffs lol.
Adnan: The thing that’s scaring is that we can still finish behind Orlando. They’d have to win at Red Bull Arena but I’ve seen crazier. But other than that it’s mostly apathy.
James Bridget: I thought what I was feeling for a bit was apathy, but it’s not. It’s fatigue. I still care. I’m just tired.
RJ: We are all tired. But I don’t want to see Wazza score a banger this Saturday. The Fire need to meme out a win.
James Bridget: You’re our resident Meme Magician RJ, make it happen. One last push.
Adnan: It’ll be weird cause I know this group of United fans going to the game that I’ll be with. So I’ll mostly be there to see Rooney. But now I can at least look forward to seeing Polster back on the fabled Toyota Park pitch.
Ruben Tisch: I expect a jump in the cap, so there will he money to throw around this off-season.
RJ: The last we shall see of Toyota Park and Valspar.
Ruben: I desperately want Kappelhof and Polster back. My feelings about MDL are a bit more complex. I don’t think he’s a starter when your fingers are Katai and Edwards and Nikolic is your center forward. I also think he’s the odd man out in a midfield with three CMs, and I don’t see Pauno wanting to play 4-4-2.
If he’s willing to come off the bench and be a spot/cup starter, I’d love to have him. At the same time, there are probably starting XI positions out there for him.
Adnan: I think MDL would be fine with a super sub role.
Ruben: Would you be fine if you could get more minutes and probably more money elsewhere? Don’t get me wrong, I’d love him to stay, but at the same time, I’m not going to begrudge him for moving on to a better situation.
I wouldn’t take anything away from him leaving but I do think he’d be willing to take a lesser role on a team that can win
Adnan: I wouldn’t take anything away from him leaving but I do think he’d be willing to take a lesser role on a team that can win. Now whether or not N-Rod brings in the needed reinforcements is another story.
James Bridget: I think we all know the answer to that question by now.
Alright, let’s do one last round of predictions. How’s Sunday going to go?
RJ: 2-1 Fire. Niko, Katai and Acosta
Adnan: 1-1 Rooney and Nikolic. Thankfully it’ll feel like a big game since DC needs a win for home field in the first game of the playoffs.
James Bridget: I’m going to say 2-0 DCU.
Ruben: 2-1 United.
