Roundtable: School’s Out

It’s over! We’re done!

MLS: D.C. United at Chicago Fire Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

James Bridget Gordon: Happy Monday, y’all. Welcome to the last Roundtable of 2018.

Let’s get some quick reactions from the DCU game.

Adnan Bašić: Being at the game made it feel like I was at a funeral, with all the Section 8 signs and the weather and how bad the action was on the field. Pretty somber.

Ruben Tisch: It came off that way on TV as well. I don’t think I would have watched more than 20 minutes of it if I wasn’t doing coverage.

That being said, the Fire played well for a team that didn’t look like they wanted to be there. They were for sure the more dangerous of the two teams and created more chances to score.

Adnan: DC taking it to the corner at the end was a great way to close out the season.

James Bridget: I feel like this could’ve gone much worse for the Fire if DC, you know, actually gave a shit. As it is, they already qualified from the playoffs, a draw suited them just fine, and they knew they didn’t have to try too hard against us.

Adnan: I think them playing on the road for the first time in a while affected them also. Especially Rooney, who looked like he was 57 years old.

James Bridget: ... you mean he isn’t 57 years old?

Adnan: Shocking I know.

Ruben: People have been calling Rooney old since he was 24.

James Bridget: He’s got one of those faces.

Adnan: And body types

James Bridget: In his defense, Patrick Stewart has also been an old man since his 20s, and he’s made it work.

Ruben: True.

Adnan: Still take him here in a heartbeat.

I mean Rooney AND Stewart.

James Bridget: I don’t think Sir Patrick can play.

Adnan: A couple of players on this team can’t either.

James Bridget: Yes, well. <ahem>

Adnan: We all do. I just wanna see Lillard ffs.

Ruben: Same. But I can wait until February. We’re gonna need some recovery time.

James Bridget: Truer words were never spake.

So how are you all going to spend your offseason? I’m going to play in a couple chess tournaments, catch up on some reading, try to write a bit of fiction over the holidays. Oh and I’m going to use one of my upcoming free weekends to go apple picking.

Adnan: Watch a lot of wresslin and soccer. See how much FIFA 19 I can play until my eyeballs give up.

James Bridget: RIP Adnan’s Eyeballs

Ruben: The Arsenal. And I’m going to try to get into Twitch streaming games.

James Bridget: Excellent.

Alright friends, have a good offseason. Get some rest, you all deserve it. See you all in January for the Draft.
