National team allocations for NWSL clubs were announced today, and three Chicago players were included.
This list, released every year before the new NWSL season starts, denotes which players will have their club salaries picked up by their respective national teams. US Soccer, the Mexican Football Federation, and the Canadian Soccer Association all participate in the program.
The Chicago Red Stars welcome back Julie Ertz, Alyssa Naeher, and Casey Short to the team as allocated players representing the USWNT. All players have recently been named to the provisional USWNT roster for the SheBelieves Cup, which begins on March 1st.
Although not listed as an allocated player, Sofia Huerta has also been listed as part of the tournament roster for SheBelieves. Huerta earned her first cap with the National Team back in September during a friendly against New Zealand. She recorded an assist on a goal by Alex Morgan.
